Kudei has been part of the multi-award-winning University Radio Nottingham (URN) since her first year. She hosted a radio show in her first and second years and was then asked to take up the role of Head of Specialist Music Programming – the first black student to hold this role and the first female lead in six years. The position involves overseeing 70 presenters at the station and encouraging them to produce the most professional content possible, while at the same time creating an inclusive and fun working environment.

Through this experience, she has also arranged talks and networking events for students looking to break into the media. She has also featured on platforms such as Nike for an advertisement campaign and on BBC Radio as a regular guest. In addition to this, she has established a successful career as a DJ and now performs across the UK.

Kudei is also hard to beat when it comes to another passion – boxing. She was boxing before her time at uni, so it was important to her that she continue. However, she noticed the lack of diversity, including no other females, at the club and kick-started women-only sessions. Now the club boasts about 30 women, with four competing alongside the men on the team.

She is very passionate about her Philosophy, Politics and Economics degree, and has had several opportunities to explore her interests in this field, including volunteering for over a year at her local MP’s advice surgery.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

“Initially, I’d like to pursue a corporate role, then my ultimate dream is to own a record label.”
