Beyond her academic pursuits, Anita has built up a reputation as an accomplished activist and compelling public speaker. Her focus is on addressing the connections between climate justice and feminism, particularly in underrepresented communities. As Youth Commissioner for the Wellbeing of Future Generations Bill, she has influenced legislation currently passing through Parliament, and ensured that young voices were represented in policy making.

Other notable achievements include securing a place among Forbes’ selection of the top 100 environmentalists and featuring in publications like the Guardian and The Independent where she was named one of four young British women leading the climate fight. And she was also featured on CBBC as the face of a documentary about fast fashion.

In 2022, as North West Young Labour BAME rep, she helped to create events encouraging young people from ethnic minority backgrounds to join the Labour Party. This led to her speaking at the Labour Party Conference in support of universal free school meals.

In her role as a 2022 I Will Ambassador, Anita is a role model for other young activists, while also helping to amplify their voices and perspectives. She is also the Founder and former President of Girl Up Manchester, a branch of Girl Up, an organisation founded by the United Nations to empower girls across the world to become the next generation of leaders. Anita successfully created a community of young girls empowered to take charge and lead.
